Worshiping on your own at Home

The Book of Common Prayer is online and can be found  here www.bcponline.org. On the left side of the page are a series of links to different services. Click on The Daily Office, then go to Daily Devotions for Individuals and Families where there are short services for various times of the day. For those who would like less-gendered language than what is in the prayer book, go to the pdf of Enriching Our Worship by clicking here, or to the New Zealand Prayer Book here.

The Prayer Book of the Armed Forces offers this prayer when one cannot attend worship:
In union, O Lord, with your faithful people at every altar of your Church, where the Holy Eucharist is now being celebrated. I desire to offer you praise and thanksgiving. I remember your death, Lord Christ; I proclaim your resurrection; I await your coming in glory. And since I cannot receive you today in the Sacrament of your Body and Blood, I beseech you to come spiritually into my heart. Cleanse and strengthen me with your grace, Lord Jesus, and let me never be separated from you. May I live in you, and you in me, in this life and the life to come. Amen.

Thanks to Interim Rector Stephen Applegate and Associate Rector Andrew Rutledge, All Saints, Chicago, for these home worship resources.

Friday Morning Prayer at St. James
6:30AM Friday Morning Prayer is now available by calling in on your phone, tablet or computer. Currently this is a voice (audio) only service, no video. We have a variety of Worship Leaders who will guide us through the service. Morning Prayer generally lasts half an hour.

These are the links to access the service:
To enter Morning Prayer via phone dial: (571) 317-3122
and when directed enter the Access Code:  780 162 197 #
If instructed to enter an "Audio Pin" enter #

Join via your computer or tablet at https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/780162197
Here's a summary of what to expect:
  • This format is basically a "conference call" - everyone is on the phone call at the same time.
  • If using your phone to call in to Friday Morning Prayer dial the phone number and then enter the access code.  You may want to use the "Speaker" mode so you don't have to hold your phone to your ear.
  • You may wish to mute your phone or computer and just concentrate on listening to the service and the responses, while responding in your own way at home. The mute button also helps when you know you may be distracted during the service.
  • If you follow along in a Book of Common Prayer, the worship leader will refer to specific pages and lead the congregation through the service.
  • We usually start Morning Prayer with a Taizé song, sung a cappella. Scripture readers, and a reader for our Prayer List will be assigned in advance. Let Amma Diane know if you'd like to try either of these roles. Feel free during the time of prayer to offer your own prayers either silently or out loud.
