Blessing Animals starts now!
Please send your pet/animal photos now
We're having a hybrid Blessing of Animals this year. If you would like to have your pet blessed in person, contact Amma Diane as soon as possible to make arrangements. She’ll stop by and bless you and your pet(s) using appropriate precautions. She or you can also take a picture to include in our special October 4 service. We’ll also include the Blessing of Animals in the service for those who can’t arrange a visit.

Please share your pet/animal photos to be included in a photo montage for this service. Photos can be of any current or previous pet(s) or animals(s) that are/were part of your life. The photo can be just the animal, or humans can be in it, too! Send as many as you like. Pictures can be emailed to [email protected] or texted to Tony Karl). St James Book Group - Wednesday 8/23 at 7PM
The St James Book Group is reading “Girl, Woman, Other” by Bernardine Evaristo in September. This novel won the Booker Prize in 2019 and the committee described it as “passionate, razor-sharp, brimming with energy and humor.” The author is the first black woman to win the prize and the story revolves around a diverse set of characters. Please join us for a virtual book discussion on Wednesday, September 23 at 7PM. Copies of the book, provided by the Manitowoc Public Library interlibrary loan service, are available. Use the info below to participate. Please call Anne Schuette (920-242-2819) to obtain a copy of the book, if you have any questions, or if you have problems connecting on the evening of the meeting.

Thanks for your support!
Several people have asked ways they can continue to financially support St James when we are not gathering in person. You can still mail checks to St James Episcopal Church, 434 N 8th St, Manitowoc, WI 54220. Contributions are being regularly counted and deposited. You can also set up one-time or recurring payments through your bank (most offer this for free). Look for "bill pay" or similar options online or call your bank.

People have asked us for an online option to donate, so we have added Tithe.ly to our new web site.

We know that these are difficult times for some, and we understand if you are unable to support the church financially. Please contact Amma Diane if you need help connecting to assistance or resources.

Our special offering in the month of September goes to Painting Pathways Clubhouse, a local non-profit supporting those diagnosed with a mental illness-- please label your gifts accordingly.

Daily Morning & Evening Prayer on Alexa/Google Assistant
Both Alexa and Google Assistant have learned some Episcopal prayers. Thanks to a partnership with between Forward Movement and TryTank Experimental Lab, you can now say, “Alexa, open Episcopal Prayer” or “Google Talk to Episcopal Prayer” and your device will begin playing the morning or evening prayer podcasts of Foreward Movement (a ministry of The Episcopal Church).

“Whether people are at home or on the go, Alexa’s ability to lead us through the daily office will be both useful and inspiring,” said the Rev Canon Scott Gunn, executive director of Forward Movement. “As a bit of a geek, I’m excited about this marriage of technology and Anglican tradition to equip disciples for daily prayer.”
Depending on the time of day, either Alexa or Google Assistant will either play the morning prayer or evening prayer podcasts, which include the full liturgy of the daily office along with the assigned psalms and readings for the day.
We appreciate your feedback
Thank you to everybody who has taken the time to participate in our various opportunities to engage remotely for worship, sharing, learning, and connection. Until further notice we'll be maintaining our schedule on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as other special services and remote gatherings. Thank you for watching/listening! Thank you for commenting and engaging with each other! And thank you for liking and sharing our videos, Facebook page, and YouTube channel to help spread the word!

We appreciate your feedback about any of these new technologies we are implementing. If you had any technical issues or technical questions, please let us know. Please email your feedback and questions to [email protected]
